To provide the services that are so vital to so many people, we rely on an army of volunteers who help us at the centre and at our fundraising events. We also have individuals, companies and clubs who support us by running their own fundraising events. These range from simple coffee and cake mornings to concerts and competitions. And of course, we always welcome donations or sponsorships.
To discuss any of this further, please call the office on 020 8977 0549.
Elleray Community Association lies at the very heart of the community and its weekday club provides a wide range of activities, games and special events to keep members fit, healthy and entertained. It is hugely valued as a real social lifeline for many adults living in and around Teddington, helping to prevent and alleviate isolation and loneliness.
While we do receive financial support from the local authority, this does not cover all the costs involved in providing our services. We do therefore rely heavily on the generosity of our local community. Every donation, legacy and bequest we receive enables us to maintain, develop and expand the services we provide both to our members and to the community at large. Your contributions mean we can offer our excellent facilities to our members, local charities and community groups at low rates.
Please remember that GiftAiding a donation increases its value to us by 25%
Some volunteers help serve lunch or undertake administrative tasks in the office while others run activities and classes. Some volunteers simply provide company by chatting with members. We also need volunteers to accompany members on outings and to help keep everything in the garden rosy. But whatever they do, our volunteers help to keep everything running smoothly. Each and every one of them is valued and makes a real difference!
So if you can spare a few hours a week or even a few hours a month, call the office on 020 8977 0549. We’d love to discuss the possibilities with you!
After many years as our Chair of the Trustees, Joan Barnett, BEM will be retiring soon after we have moved into the new centre in October.
Our new chair should have experience either as a trustee or in running committees or managing aspects of a service or business. As well as acting as spokesperson and figurehead for the charity, they will be instrumental in providing our committee of trustees with the strategic leadership necessary to ensure that we maintain and expand our services and continue to meet the needs of our members. The ability to engage with stakeholders and collaborate effectively with staff and volunteers as well as other charities, institutions and the local authority is vital.
Please contact ECA on 020 8977 0549 or chr@ellerayhall.org to arrange an informal discussion with our current chair or to receive full details of this volunteer role.
This group meets weekly to explore and discuss themes from the past. The volunteer who normally runs it has had to step away for a while so we now need someone to run the sessions. There is a weekly newspaper, ‘The Daily Sparkle’ that provides the leader with plenty of inspiration and background to get discussions going. If you’d be interested in this, please call the office on 020 8977 0549.
